June 22, 1849

Mary Brewster, FRIDAY [June] 22nd [1849]: “Early part of the day, thick fog — cleared up a short while. Saw St. Lawrence Island [in the northern Bering Sea, almost into the Bering Strait]. Saw whale did  not lower — working up N with a thick fog.”

NOTE: Mary Brewster made journal entries for June 23-27, 29-30.


Mary Lawrence’s husband’s ship, the Addison arrived at her homeport of New Bedford, MA at sunrise on June 14, 1860.
