June 4, 1860

Mary Brewster did not make any journal entries for this date in 1849. However, during the month of June, she did write in her journal for June 5-8; 15, 17; 21-27; 29-30.

***************

Mary Lawrence, [Mon.] June 4 [1860]: “Pleasant weather. Washed today, probably for the last time aboard the Addison. We have all set Saturday night or Sunday morning to get in, and I hope we may not be mistaken. In the afternoon I repaired a coat for Mr. Baird and mended one ensign which I think is a disgrace to our country. I have spent a good many hours mending it on this voyage, but it is now almost past mending. Had plenty of thunder and lightning through the night. Made 165 miles in forty-eight hours.”
