May 31, 1860

Mary Brewster did not make any journal entries between May 27-31, 1849. During the month of June she was more diligent, making entries June 1-3; 5-8; 15, 17; 21-27; 29-30.

Mary Lawrence, [Thurs.] May 31 [1860]: “Last night we had thunder and lightning with occasional showers of rain through the night, the lightning very sharp and the thunder deep, but the clouds passed off without coming very near. Today the air is very pure and clear. Packed a box of preserved pineapple today. The wind is not as we would like to have it. We do  not get to the westward as we would wish, but perhaps there will be a change by and by. Made 82 miles the last twenty-four hours.”
