30th May 1860

Mary Lawrence, [Wed.] May 30 [1860]: “Commenced packing for home today. Packed a basket of books and three boxes of books and clothing. Home seems very near; it excites me very much to think of it. If I could only meet all the dear family circle that I left behind, how joyful would be my anticipations. The weather is some cooler than it has been for a few weeks past. Made 148 miles the last twenty-four hours.”
