May 27, 1860

Mary Brewster did not make any journal entries between May 27-31, 1849. During the month of June she was more diligent, making entries June 1-3; 5-8; 15, 17; 21-27; 29-30.


Mary Lawrence, [Sun.] May 27 [1860]: “A dead calm for the most of the day. Caught about two dozen fish of the kind called pall-fish, the same as was caught yesterday. Got no latitude today owing to an error in time. Cleaned my room yesterday, probably for the last time [the ship is headed to her home port of New Bedford, MA] except a few finishing touched..”
