4th May 1860

Mary Brewster did not make any journal entries between April 30 – May 8, 1849.

Mary Lawrence, [Fri.] May 4 [1860]: “Fine weather as usual. Samuel commenced scrimshawing again for the first time after having a lame side. His work today was turning a bedstead for Minnie. The men are all engaged in fixing up the ship. They are now at work on the rigging. I made about twenty-five caps today for them to put on. I expect she [the ship] will look quite nicely when she gets painted. The owners take a great deal of pride in having their ships to look well when they arrive [at their homeport]. Made 215 miles the last twenty-four hours.”
