28th April 1860

Mary Brewster did not make any journal entries between April 24-28, 1849.

Mary Lawrence, [Sat.] APRIL 28 [1860]: “Nice weather with quite a light breeze. After breakfast I had a general cleaning in the after cabin, which brought to my mind scenes of home, house cleaning. I do the cleaning in our rooms usually myself, as I have thought that stewards and cabin boys generally make the paint and varnish look worse than before they commenced. Our dog Jip had a sort of fit in the afternoon. We supposed it was changed by the change of weather. Minnie felt very badly for fear he would die. They showered him plentifully with cold water. At night he appeared rather better but was wild and easily frightened. Made 197 miles the last forty-eight hours.”
