12th January 1849

Mary Brewster, FRIDAY JANUARY 12th [1849]: “Commenced with light winds from NNE and cloudy. Middle calm with heavy rain. Ends with the same weather. All rain and no wind.   LAT. 25.55   LONG. 160.33.”

Through most of January 1849, Mary Brewster made nearly daily journal entries. However, most of them are very brief.  Oftentimes, Mary’s journal entries are reflective of 19th-century whaling ships’ logs entries that typically would have been made by the captain or first officer of the vessels.

Mary Lawrence did not make a journal entry for this date in 1860.

Mary Lawrence’s 1860 journal entries include January 14-21, 23-29.
