29th October 1848

Mary Brewster, SUNDAY [Oct.] 29th [1848]: “The weather the last week has been cloudy for the most of the time with moderate breezes. Have seen no whale and I believe they all begin to feel the need of something to do, truly, whalemen have a large share of time which is spent in doing nothing, and from what I have seen theirs is an indolent life.   LAT. 35.32   LONG. 69.50.”

Mary Lawrence did not make any journal entries from October 27-29, 1859.

Eliza Williams, her husband and their two children, aboard the Florida anchored safely in San Francisco Bay on the afternoon of October 26, 1861; ending a three-year whaling voyage.
