December 28, 1847

Mary Brewster, TUESDAY [Dec.] 28th [1847]: “First part breeze from ENE. Middle wind light with warm pleasant weather. At 2 wind hauled ahead.  So wore ship heading E by N. Closes almost calm. The mate just made this inquiry of the man at the wheel, ‘How she head’ – answer: ‘South East by South” — a dampener to homeward bound feelings.   LAT. 35.31   LONG. 39.52.”

Mary Lawrence did not make a journal entry for this date in 1858.

Eliza Williams did not make a journal entry for this date in 1860.
