December 18, 1847

Mary Brewster, SATURDAY [Dec.] 18th [1847]: “Beautiful weather with a light breeze. At 8 this evening spoke ship Moctezuma of N-Bedford – Capt. Tower – Husband went on board but soon returned for me as Mrs. Tower was on board accordingly I was not long in preparing myself for the opportunity offered for a change of scene. So went on board and passed the evening till nearly 12 o’clock. I was happy to meet a female acquaintance and was pleased with Ms. Tower. Her husband was on board of us the first season on th NWest and was nearly full. I could hardly realize he head been home and was thus far along on another voyage. Mrs. T. said a number of ladies were out this season with their husbands — I am glad they are following the late fashion. Got some later [news] papers 5 months from home –“

Mary Lawrence did not make any journal entries from Dec. 1 – 24, 1858.

Eliza Williams did not make a journal entry for this date in 1860.
