August 27 [1847 and 1858]

Mary Brewster, FRIDAY AUGUST 27th [1847]: “Our visitors came before breakfast, this being the custom here when one has any distance to come, it being cool and comfortable to ride. The day passed pleasantly, Mrs. Hunt is truly interesting and her husband gentlemanly and intelligent, with such good people one cannot be weary. They remained till dark then left.”

Mary Lawrence, [Fri.] AUGUST 28 [1858]: “Boats lowered early in the morning, but the whales disappeared. Saw none for the remainder of the day except mussel diggers. Some rainy.”

Eliza Williams did not make any journal entries from August 19-September 4, 1860.
