Mary and her husband, Samuel did not return to sea for their last voyage until June 1848. However, Mary’s journal-writing did not resume until July 13, 1848. Therefore, Mary Brewster’s entries will resume on this blog┬ástarting July 13, 2013.

Mary Lawrence did not make any journal entries for May 7-8, 1859. She made a journal entry for May 9, skipped May 10, and then maintained daily entries between May 11 – 26, 1859

Eliza Williams made sporadic journal entries from Feb. 27 – May 7, 1861. On Wednesday, May 8, 1861 Eliza wrote: “It has been cloudy and some rainy all day, and there is a head wind now. The Island of Niphon is now in sight. We will soon be in Hakodadi [Japan], if this head wind does not last.”
